Kitchen Clean up with Vinegar!

HOORAY FOR VINEGAR!!!!

In an earlier post we shared our multipurpose household cleaner that is chemical free and great for pretty much any surface! Here are more recipes for your kitchen that you may love as well!

Stinky Dishwasher

  • Add 1/2 cup vinegar to an empty dishwasher and run the rinse cycle. This will open up any clogs in the dishwasher drain lines and deodorize the machine.

Messy Microwave

If your microwave is spattered with old sauces and grease

  • place a glass measuring cup with 1 cup water and 1/4 cup vinegar inside microwave
  • heat on high for 3 minutes, then remove measuring cup and wipe inside with a damp sponge.

Clean and Freshen your Dish Sponge

Sometimes your sponge is still good to use but there will be a smell.  To freshen up and clean sponge, spray sponge generously with the multipurpose home cleaner or dampen with water and tsp vinegar, microwave for 60 seconds!

Is your coffee tasting blah?

Buildup in a coffeemaker's brewing system can affect the flavor.  To get rid of buildup:

  • run 1 brewing cycle of cold water and 1/4 cup vinegar.
  • Follow with a cycle of clean water
  • If you still smell vinegar run another cycle using fresh water

Is your oven hood greasy?

At least once a year(twice is best) you should "de-grease" the vents of your oven hood.

OR

  • Wipe vents with a sponge and undiluted(straight) vinegar, or remove vents and soak them for 15 minutes in 1 cup vinegar and 3 cups hot water.

Natural House Cleaner - Vinegar!

For the most part our house has been chemical free for years, especially in the kitchen. This is the place we prepare our foods... why on earth would you want to use chemicals on your counter top, table and stove?

From cleaning house to preserving food to helping soothe aches and pains, Vinegar can tackle the toughest jobs!   Vinegar has an impressive list for uses considering it's a byproduct of something  gone bad.

VINEGAR- All vinegar starts as alcohol, which is created through conversion of carbohydrates to sugar. When alcohol ferments, it becomes acetic acid, or vinegar. Example; a bunch of grapes deteriorates to become wine(alcohol) and then wine ferments into wine vinegar.

To make it easier to remember the recipe I recycled a spray bottle and wrote the recipe on the bottle.

This recipe can also be used in your bathroom! I also use this on our kitchen cabinets.  It's gentle on the wood and wipes away finger prints and grease. Seriously, if there's grease, spray this and  wipe clean. We even use it on or wood floor to spot clean areas. With babies and animals on the floor spots happen and keeping it chemical free is good!

Multipurpose Home Cleaner
1 tsp Borax
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
2 tsp Vinegar
1/4 tsp (or squirt) liquid dish soap
2 cups hot water

Prepare mixture and store in a clean spray bottle. Use this cleaner on virtually any surface!

Cheers,
